Italy Euro 2024 Squad Starts With Victory Over Albania

The Italy Euro 2024 squad began the defence of their European Championship crown by beating Albania 2-1 on Saturday despite falling behind in the first half. Nicolo Barella equalised in the second half before Giacomo Raspadori scored the winner with 15 minutes remaining.
Italy are now top of Group A after their opening match, while Albania are bottom. Italy will face Spain in their next match on Tuesday, while Albania will play Croatia.
Italy made a bright start to the match and had the first chance when Lorenzo Insigne fired wide from the edge of the box. Albania grew into the game and took the lead in the 20th minute when Armando Broja scored from close range.
Italy responded well to going behind and equalised in the 55th minute when Barella fired home from the edge of the box. Raspadori then scored the winner in the 75th minute when he headed home from a corner.
Italy held on to claim a hard-fought victory and will be confident of qualifying for the knockout stages of the tournament.
